FAQs

You can look more into the current years feed schedule here, but the simple answer is: A LOT! This is also dependent on your availability. Some officials can make around $500 in a single weekend during the season and over $1000 per tournament over the summer! For more information, see our Extended Fee Schedule

You need to be at least a sophomore in high school and have an active USA Lacrosse membership with the 'Official' designation.

You can go to our Become an Official page for more information, otherwise click here to fill out the registration form to get started

Classroom training for High School and Youth are conducted separately.

Attendance is mandatory for both sessions and on-field training to fulfill the classroom requirements for youth certification per USA Lacrosse.

2026 High School dates have been expanded this year to encompass on-field skills and mechanics as well as our traditional philosophical/discussion focused Zoom trainings

Times are still being finalized and this will be updated as well as e-mailed out to the membership as soon as it's confirmed.

Also new this year, WILOA is proud to offer a LAREDO-style training opportunity for High School officials to further hone their skills on March 20th, 2026 and March 21st, 2026. This opportunity will come with a classroom session with current D1 NCAA officials covering various topics around mechanics, positioning and communication (over Zoom). In addition, attendees are invited to watch a scrimmage at Carroll College in Waukesha, WI as they faceoff against Hope College while the clinicians speak about what is going on during the game and various situations. This will be followed by on-field training opportunities for these same attendees to get live feedback as well.

Signups for this optional training will be made available as soon as details are finalized and may be limited to the number of participants

For those whom are just starting out and only officiating youth, we ask that you have a 1-inch striped shirt, flag, whistle (preferably Fox40), black shorts without any school emblem. A starter pack can be purchased from our partner AllSportsOfficials.com

About Our Members

"Where do you find such a person?

A man or woman involved in a game who has the authority of a sea captain, the discretion of a judge, the strength of a hunter, the courage of a soldier, the patience of a saint and the stoicism to withstand the abuse of the grandstand, the tension of overtime, the invective of a player and the pain of a ball ricocheting off their body?

This person must be a tough character, with endurance and the ability to keep their temper and self-control, they must be unimpeachably honest, courteous, impartial, and firm, and they must compel respect from everyone!"

- Adopted from original quote by Branch Rickey
